AYGF paid an advocacy and stakeholders engagement visit to the German Embassy in Abuja on 22nd of July 2019 in Abuja in respect of the EU-IOM funded extension of labour inspection activity and labour law enforcement to sectors and work places where migrant workers may be present project. The AYGF delegation was received by Mr Lief E. Strobner, The Head of Refugees, Migration and Humanitarian Aid in Nigeria and ECOWAS Region. Mr lief pledged on behalf of the German mission the necessary support that will see to the success of the project.
AYGF paid an advocacy and stakeholders visit to the Ministry of Labor and Employment on the 10th of July 2019 to kick start the advocacy and stakeholders consultation phase of the EU-IOM funded “Extension of Labour Inspection Activity and Labour Law Enforcement to Sectors and Workplaces Where Migrant Workers May be Present”. The ministry of Labour assured the AYGF Delegation that Pension, Documentation, NHIS, Extant Labour Laws will be given cognizance in creating a separate template for migrant workers.
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment is set to begin the process of extending labour inspection services to migrant workers in Nigeria. This is as a result of the advocacy by Africa Youth Growth Foundation. The Director of wages and employment in the Federal Ministry Of Labour and Employment Mr. John Nyali A, made the pledge on behalf of the Ministry of Labour and Employment while responding to the plea to extend labour inspection services to migrant workers made by the E.D of AYGF Dr. Arome Salifu in his presentation.
The Youth Leadership and Mentoring program (YLMP) organized jointly by Africa Youth Growth Foundation and the Nile University of Nigeria was carried out at Nile University on Thursday, 30th May 2019.
Youth Leadership and Mentoring Program (YLMP) is one of the flagship program of the Foundation aimed at addressing the leadership deficiencies and mentoring gaps that exist in the political, professionals, industrial and business sectors of the country while at the same time preparing our young people for the challenges of the present and the future through experience sharing and thought-provoking interactions between the Mentors and the Mentees.
The program covered areas of leadership engagement, business development, governance and entrepreneurship, and governance and citizen’s engagement with renowned, exemplary and intellectual speakers who are achieving and have achieved great feats in the society. They gave a narration of these achievements as a tool to drive the message the program sought to deliver.
The audience included young men and women, especially university students and youth core members from various parts of the country. Also in attendance were representatives of Ministries, Civil Society Organizations, Non-profit Organizations and prominent persons in the society.
AYGF Signs An MOU With IOM On A Project Titled “Extension Of Labour Inspection Activity And Labour Laws Enforcement To Sectors Or Workplaces Where Migrant Workers May Be Present”
On the 10th June 2019, AYGF, the Africa Youth Growth Foundation signed an MOU with the International Organization for Migration on a project designed to further strengthen the interventions being doled out in the migration sector in Nigeria.
The AYGF through the instrumentality of this project seeks to carry out baseline survey to ascertain the level of compliance and conformity of labour inspection activity and labour law enforcement in the country vis-à-vis the migrant workers in Nigeria and assess how that has impacted on the welfare and wellbeing of migrant workers in Nigeria in the context of implementation of and compliance with National Policy on Migration, National Policy on Labour Migration and other International Labour Conventions and Treaties while at the same time building the understanding and capacity of migrant workers in Nigeria on their rights, privileges and obligation.

The second quarterly meeting of the Migration Data Management of Working Group(MDMWG), was held at Chelsea hotel on Monday 29th April, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss reports on National Migration data base by stakeholders. AYGF was present at the meeting as a member of the Technical Working Committee.
